Story

Shawn Fleming started playing guitar at the age of 12.  He studied classical guitar at Combs College of Music where he received a full scholarship and Florida Atlantic University.  In 1993 Shawn moved to Los Angeles to pursue his musical career and studied Jazz guitar with Pat Kelley (famous studio guitarist and USC professor) and Sunnie Paxson (Stanley Clarks Pianist).  It took two years before he was able to make a living playing guitar.  Shawn worked as a professional musician playing with with various musical acts.  The groups would mostly play bar gigs, weddings, parties, corporate events and receptions.  To supplement his income, Shawn began teaching guitar for Larry Little at Ace Music in 1996.  He taught there for two years before moving to his current studio in Truetone Music.  Shawn has taught well over a 1000 students and currently averages between fifty to sixty students a week. Although Shawn spends most of his time teaching, he dedicates a lot of time to his YouTube channel and his guitar pick company “Good Grip Picks”. He is also available for hire to play events. He works solo, duo, trio or quartet and mostly plays instrumental jazz mixed in familiar classics of all genres.
